What’s an Empath?

An Empath is defined as, “one who experiences the emotions of others : a person who has empathy for others.” But this definition doesn’t quite do it for me.

Another name for an Empath though, is a highly sensitive person. Coined by Elaine Aron, “the highly sensitive person (HSP) has a sensitive nervous system, is aware of subtleties in his/her surroundings, and is more easily overwhelmed when in a highly stimulating environment.” Now that’s more like it!

Having the Empath/HSP trait allows me to create heartfelt and emotional content that connects me to my readers on a deeper level.

Qualifications

Art Qualifications:

I have an Associate in Arts degree which was originally the “I have no idea what I want to do with my life” degree. Regardless, getting this degree allowed me to explore a variety of courses like Psychology, 3D Design, Adobe Illustrator, Interior Design, Music, etc.

Check out Emmy’s Art content.

Astrology Resources, Teachers, and Inspiration:

There aren’t many Astrology universities out there; however, the internet is full of great resources for learning Astrology. Below you will find some of my favorite resources and teachers (this is updated regularly-none of these links are sponsored).

Astrostyle.com – The Astro Twins website has great online workshops and helpful blog articles for beginner astrologers.

Cosmiccousins.com – For those looking to dig a little deeper on the spiritual side of astrology, check out Jeff’s website for some more great workshops and access to their podcast – Cosmic Cousins.

Malloryhasty.com – Mallory is a fabulous teacher and astrologer that has so many great offerings on her website. I’ve taken her Tarot class as well as her Highly Sensitive Person Summer Camp, and I cannot recommend her enough!

The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need by Joanna Martine – This was the book that cracked open my skull and released the astrology obsessed part of myself to the world.

Saturn A New Look At An Old Devil by Liz Greene – It only makes sense that this book is on my favorites shelf. Saturn is my Ascendant ruler after all!

Where is Emmy located?

So now that you know all about Emmy, wanna know what “The Lou” stands for in Emmy of the Lou? It stands for good ole Saint Louis Missouri!

As a Cancer, it’s important for me to show my home respect. While my hometown Saint Louis isn’t big on Astrology, I know there are people here who want access to the knowledge of the stars. It’s my goal to provide accessible astrological content to everyone in America, and represent my city in the process.

Stay tuned for Emmy’s St. Louis content.

Black Lives Matter

I support the Black Lives Matter movement. I am doing what I can in order to learn more about equality and how to be actively anti-racist. As I learn, I use my emotional writing skills to share with you in an effort to build an equal and loving world for all. It’s not political; it’s basic human rights that our society is not meeting!
